2009 Sydney City-to-Surf and AGM 08-09 Aug 09

The 2009 Sun-Herald City to Surf will be held on Sunday, 09 Aug 09. The event is open to all permanent and reserve personnel and defence civilians.

As an ADF Sports Council sanctioned event, service personnel selected to represent the ADF are deemed on duty.  All personnel allocated to a team by the Association will be reimbursed the cost of the entry fee while funding for travel and incidentals remains the responsibility of the member’s parent unit/ship.

The conditions for being allocated to a defence team and hence reimbursed are described below.

From the handbook:

5.10.2  Selection Criteria.     The Association will enter teams to place in as many team categories as possible.  The criteria for team selection are:

  1. Must have either previously completed a City to Surf run or have demonstrated the ability to complete the distance in a reasonable time.
  1. Runners must run in either the elite, SH1, SH2 divisions to gain selection (less than 100 mins).  No reimbursement is provided to runners in the blue or back of the pack division.   Blue is now in the non reimbursable category, hence if you are not good enough to make an A start, you won't be assigned to a team.

   c.    Runners must be current members of the DAC and must wear the DAC uniform.

Entry Procedure

1. Email Frank Kresse the following details:
                   A. Most recent City to Surf time and year, or Most recent 10k or half marathon time.
                   B. Your age on 09 Aug.
Runners wishing to seek a Preferred Start who did not automatically qualify at last years event will need to provide evidence           of performances to enable justification.

2. Based on this information you will be provided with the following:
                  - Category in which to enter (Elite, SH1 or SH2)
                  - Team Name that you are to assign yourself against

3. Runners will then follow the entry process online and pay the entry fee. The password is the same as the team name that will be provided to you by the Race Organiser less ADF. So for example, if you are assigned to the ADF Cruisers then your password is "cruisers".

4. At the completion of the race, runners who finish will be reimbursed the early bird entry fee and the postage cost ($46)

To ensure that you are assigned to a team, you will need to contact the Race Organiser by Fri 11 Jul 09

A Couple of Important Points (if you intend to claim reimbursement)
- You must contact the Race Organiser BEFORE you enter
- You must enter a team
- If you disregard these two points you need to get in touch with the Race Organiser who MAY be able to resolve the issue
- Unfortunately if you enter against a non-elite category there will be NO ability to reassign you to the preferred/seeded start group without you paying another entry fee

If you have any queries, please consult either the C2S site or contact Frank Kresse.
